Chris Brown could face up to four years in prison if he is convicted of felony assault, after he allegedly attacked a man in Washington D.C. early Sunday morning.

Chris Brown was arrested on Sunday morning for felony assault after allegedly attacking a man outside of a Washington, D.C. hotel.

The “Forever” singer, 24, got into an altercation with a man outside of the W Hotel and allegedly began punching him, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

Brown did not appear to be under the influence of any substances, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

The incident took place at around 4:30 in the morning. Brown did not appear to be under the influence of any substances, law enforcement sources told the gossip site.

The singer is still on probation from his 2009 attack on singer Rihanna, his then girlfriend.

He was taken into police custody, while the man was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. It is unclear whether or not the unidentified man sustained serious injuries from the scuffle.

Brown performed in Philadelphia on Friday, just days before his weekend arrest.

Brown has been on probation stemming from the 2009 attack on pop singer Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time. In July his probation was briefly revoked after he was involved in a hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles, but it was later reinstated in August.

The “With You” singer has also been involved in altercations with fellow musicians Drake and Frank Ocean, though neither of those resulted in criminal charges.

This time, a felony assault charge could be grounds for probation violation, per TMZ.

If convicted Brown could face up to four years in prison.
